Breaches and buffers: Can meaningful work impact turnover during COVID-19 pandemic?

The fear and uncertainty created by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic have strained employer-employee relationship. This research seeks to understand how psychological contract breach shapes employees' perspectives of meaningful work its influence on turnover intention. Drawing event systems theory, we investigated objective events in environment (e.g., global pandemic) impact employees. We also argue that career shock caused affected choices based their job fit resources. Findings indicate experiencing reduced intention, especially for those experienced less breach. Also, intention most individuals whose working hours were not impacted pandemic. These findings show a relatively stable reduces potential during exogenous shocks. study highlights importance why organizations should collaborate assist employees making more meaningful.
